NATIONAL BLACK CANADIANS SUMMITS

More than a moment, it’s a movement

The National Black Canadians Summit is a large-scale mobilization event, allowing an inclusive and decisive dialogue to create necessary change towards a just, equitable and inclusive society.

CURRENT INITIATIVES

We deliver social impact and innovation programs

We collaborate with partners to dismantle discrimination and exclusion of underserved youth.

4th WALL

Amplifying youth voices through arts

The 4th Wall is our flagship program, providing young people who face exclusion a chance to engage in an artistic process, create with purpose and showcase their work in a museum or gallery setting. Young creators work with community-engaged artists to create a work of art that addresses or brings awareness to a social issue that affects them personally.

CREATIVE YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM

Creative minds are engines of innovation

Creative Youth Entrepreneurship Program is an initiative that provides young creatives with a necessary foundation and introduction to entrepreneurship. This six-week pilot program will serve individuals between the ages of 17-30, who identify as artists, innovators or creatives, and possess a desire to acquire a solid introduction to entrepreneurship and venture creation.

HALIFAX DECLARATION

Be the change

The Halifax Declaration, created by Black Canadians and benefitting from the wisdom of young Black Canadians, is an expression of some of the key demands, claims and expectations of Black people everywhere, including on the continent of Africa.

Dr. Natalia Kanem, United Nations, Under-Secretary General

POWER OF YOUTH

A call-to-action

The Power of Youth initiative is a one-time grant that funds youth-led projects addressing the issues presented in the Halifax Declaration, empowering young Black people to take a leading role in advancing solutions in their communities. As a National Black Canadians Summit legacy initiative, the Power of Youth aims to empower young people to realize projects that benefit their own communities.

HALIFAX DECLARATION

The time is now

Canada has a historic opportunity to heal the wounds of history – and to achieve positive change that benefits not just the Black community, but every Canadian. Bold and courageous change, in policy, legislation, research and investment, requires leadership, vision and action. The Halifax Declaration is a landmark record of the state of being a Black Canadian today – from the achievements of our ancestors to the interconnected challenges we face together.

TESTIMONIALS

At the heart of our mission is a commitment to social impact and a better world for all. We are proud to work with youth who share this vision and are making a difference every day.

The Summit was a life-changing experience for me. It opened my eyes to the effect I have on others and how much of a difference I can make, we can all make, together.
